It's small, compact and the transport system is easy to use. Spent last weekend there with a good friend and it was fantastic! Be forewarned that if you plan to walk around, better make sure ur friend enjoys walking too!

Forget about driving in boston. Traffic is horrible and parking is a nightmare. Better off on foot and on the MBTA. Getting to boston from new york costs only $15 one way on Fung Wah or Lucky Star bus. Be prepared for a long 4-5 hr bus ride tho. Weekends are most recommended for boston.

Technically, one day is more than enough to walk around boston. Try the freedom trail for some sort of scavenger hunt guilt pleasure. You'll get to see most of boston on the trail. Look out for the freedom trail signs for directions.

The Northend is a must visit! Weekend bazzar at the tip of northend is bizzarely interesting and freaking cheap!fruits and cheap pizza on the alley. MUst go!!

Little italy is my absolute favourite cos of the sights and the sounds. Very very italian! You'll sure to get there if you follow the freedom trail. Do visit Mike's bakery, reputed to be the best bakery on the east side.

Faneiul Hall is a must visit for shopaholics with quincy market and all. Good mix of food but a tad expensive. Check out the pubs along the wharf, and often you can get lobster special for less that $13.

Havard centre is your quintessential small town city. glorious, beautiful, and if you visit anytime other than summer, i reckon it'll be swamped with students. Worth a peak and accessible via mbta.

The boston public gardens is a let down tho with its tacky swan boat rides and knee deep ponds. Just worth a walk through and walk towards beacon hill. Experience the high society feel of Boston and imagine yourself walking in the shoes of olden times.

End the day at the CHinatown for a cheap lobster meal at a chinese restaurent( hey, you are in boston, lobsters is a must). Seek out Gourmet seafood for their lobster special! 2 side dishes and a lobster special cost only $21 each for a party of 2

Accomodations wise, it's expensive in downtown boston but can book hostels in advance. It should cost less than 1/3 of what you would pay for a hotel room if you travel in a party less than 4.

If you have time, salem is worth a peek. Join the tacky musuem tour for witches (just one will do. the rest are all the same) then proceed around on foot. Marblehead town is suposedly worth a visit if you have the time. Have to rely on complicated bus routes tho...If not, proceed towards salem hill park. You will pass by a very interesting sweet confectionary whereby they supposedly produced the first commercial candy in the US.

Have fun in boston! I did^^
